Proper nutrition is fundamental to all aspects of your toy dogs life.
The body needs proper nutrition in order to grow, to concentrate and to learn. It is crucial to behavior and learning.
Toy breeds because of their size have a higher metabolic rate and burn more calories much faster than their larger counterparts. Because of this they require more frequent mealt. One meal a day won't do. An adult dog will require 2-3 meals a day, and a puppy (up to 6 months old) will require from 4-6 meals a day, depending on how small the puppy is. Puppies and very small adults are prone to Hypoglacemia.
Some toy breeds become picky eaters and that is usually from free feeding (leaving the food out all day) and/or feeding them table scraps.
It is important to feed them high quality nutritious food either home cooked or commercial, no matter what you will still need to supplement their diet.
High quality natural nutritious food helps to balance your dog's behavior, their physical and mental health. A dog who has the proper nutrients is capable of concentrating and learning!
